Selection assistance loading ramps

Ramps are indispensable when driving your car, motorbike or other heavy machine onto an elevation. However, if you need to move your wheelchair or mobility scooter over a raised threshold, Kruizinga.com is also the right place to go to. We have a wide range of highly robust ramps.

How do I calculate the correct length of the ramps?

In most cases, we recommend a maximum gradient of 30% for standard ramps. You can calculate the required length of the ramps using the following formula: Ramp height (cm) divided by the maximum gradient angle (30) x 100 = length of the ramp. See also the table below for an overview;

ramp height

Example

If a vehicle has to be loaded on a trailer with a ramp height (floor height) of 45 cm and a gradient of 30%, calculate the length of the ramp as follows;

45 ÷ 30 x 100 = 150 cm

If you require a lower gradient, change the figure 30 that appears in the calculation above, to your preferred percentage.

How do I calculate the total load capacity?

Total weight of the vehicle + fuel (1L = 1KG) + weight of the driver + weight of the accessories

We recommend that you add on at least 10% extra load capacity.

Load capacity

As stated for the products, the load capacity depends on several factors and decreases if:
- the weight distribution is different than 2/3 on one axle and 1/3 on the other axle.
- the speed is above 5 km/h.
- there are vibrations when accelerating or braking abruptly.

What else do you need to pay attention to?

- the ramps must be stored completely flat on the bottom of the trailer or loading area and secured in such a way that they can't move about.
- always reverse onto a ramp if a vehicle has most of its weight on the rear axle. This prevents the vehicle from tipping backwards.
